Matthew Stevens leading Ken Doherty 7-2.
The best player never to win a World Championship.
The late Paul Hunter would come close. It was his title in 2003 much like it was Stevensās in 2000, both years won by Mark Williams.
Jimmy is the best to have never won it.
ya jimmy the best player not to have won it followed by ding junhui, Matthew stevens, Stephen lee, paul hunter would have been good world champions
ā¦and to think Graeme Dott and Stuart Bungham won it, oh my eyes.
Graeme Dott is a three time finalist. A quality player. Only Ronnie OāSullivan, John Higgins and Mark Selby have appeared in more finals this century.
Iād bow to your superior knowledge on most things Geoff but Dott was one of the most limited players Iāve seen. While his safety had to have been good his cue power and break building were poor.
Bingham was brilliant in the Championship he won. Obviously hit peak form for the first and last time in his career.
I despise Dott.
Bingham is unplayable when heās in the mood
Ken is out, beaten 10-2.
Something tells me he will still be sniffing around the Crucible for the 17 days.
Would Ken get any few quid for that? Is he still on the circuit?
He trousered Ā£13,500 for getting this far. Heās still plugging away on the circuit, although he plays a lot of the seniors snooker too. His days must be numbered now.
Not too shabby, a few quid from commentary etc too. Is the snooker hall still going?
Which snooker hall?
In terrenure
AFAIK his snooker academy is still going, alas the great Jasonās club in Ranelagh, where Ken cut his teeth is long gone
He opened a snooker hall and casino in the nure about ten years back. The casino didnāt last long as youād imagine and the snooker hall never seemed busy the few times I was in there, but i wasnāt there often. A labour of love youād imagine
Guaranteed Ā£18,000 for Matthew Stevens now. Important pay day after the ex-missus cleaned him out and getting declared bankrupt.
