The Snooker Thread (Part 1)

Would people sit through a whole match of this?

Trump struggling.

The crucible curse is no joke

I would

Yup. Love it

I think Boris has banned the spectators from the Snooker this morning. Does this mean that Hamilton can come out from under the bed and take his place in the draw?

He’s doing okay to be only trailing 4-5. It could have been a lot worse.

Do you play Dan?

I would have known to frequent snooker halls in my younger days from time to time. Are there any snooker halls left now?

What would have been your highest break?

Mine is 12 :grinning:

  1. I missed a relatively easy black for a half century. Pressure. I still have the odd flashback on it, particularly when I see the pros miss a straightforward pot.

I used to play a good bit in the local hall. 40 was always a big hurdle but once I got over it I got a few decent ones. Never got a century though.

That’s good going. What was your highest break?

I would have knocked in plenty of breaks in the 30’s and 40’s, but never got over that hurdle. Its the positional side and cue control that’s crucial. Even when I got my higher breaks, there invariably would have been an element of not having prime position for the last 2 or 3 shots before eventually running completely out of position.

Think I scored 67 once. Usually broke down in the 30’s. The control the pros have around the black spot is terrifying

Mine is around 28. Getting around the black is key.

I had a beaut of a one piece cue, hand made. Paid 90 quid for it. It was like Billy’s Boots from Roy of the Rovers. If I didn’t have it I was no good. 80 odd was my biggest break.

A string of 4 or 5 reds and blacks can be done handy enough if the balls are nicely spread on the table.

Going up and down for the blue sorts the wheat from the chaff I’ve always found.

O’Sullivan got his first competitive century break at the age of 10. He got a 147 in 5 minutes at the World Championship. Ridiculous stuff.

I’d be the same, I think 30 odd. Getting in around the black. Once the white went out of position I could never rescue it.

Like @balbec said above, the cue ball control these lads have is insane

I haven’t played in any way regularly in years. The last time I played - holy mother of God I was horrific.
