Selby’s ambition to be part of the longest frame in crucible history is a hollow achievement. I’d say it never even entered his thinking that he’d lose it. He’ll still probably come back and win.
In truth I’m gutted it didn’t go to the respotted black.
Selby’s shit eating grin as he drags his opponent into the trenches is one of the great things in sport.
But we may have seen the last of it for this year.

There is a touch of Peter Ebdon about Yan. You get a sense he loves the gamesmanship and the slog. Most players would have cracked and Selby would have broken their resolve.
