The Snooker Thread (Part 1)

Ah that’s unreal stuff from Davis. That pot on the brown will go down as one of the best shots ever in the crucible.

well done the nugget. sport is fantastic entertainment

That was probably the best shot I have ever seen.

The shot of this or any other championship. Pure theatre. Classic Crucible action. A packed arena. Two master cuemen at work. 52 year old Steve Davis into the second round. The World Champion showing real class in defeat.

Fantastic stuff.

In fairness, John Higgins is a gentleman in victory and defeat.

Who’s next for the nugget? Reardon, Spencer or someone else?

Could well be a very winnable quarter final against Martin Gould. Gould lead Neil Robertson over night 11-5. Robertson has looked impressive in taking first three frames this afternoon so this is a really big frame before the mid session interval.

a great evening’s entertainment in store with ronnie and mark williams

ronnie looks well up for this. a big contrast to performance against yiang. with higgins out he must sense that he has a great chance of winning his fourth world title.

yeah ronnie looks really interested for a change… whats up with mark williams’ facial expressions? has he some tick or disease or something?
good snooker is great entertainment

williams has had a great year and is almost back to his best. himself and ding are the form players going into this championship. i’d expect the winner of this to play ding in the final

good frame for ronnie to win there. this one will go all the way id imagine

Robertson is worth a punt. Ain’t no doubt.

Magnificent fightback from Graeme Dott from 12-10 down to beat Mark Allen 13-12 in the deciding frame. Terrific match and good to see such great camaraderie between both players throughout between frames.

Ali Carter has won the last 3 frames to cut the deficit to 7-8 against Shaun Murphy.

Ah jaysus. Dott is ruining this. Fuck off Dott!

A big win for Graeme. After a testing few years, I believe that by reaching the semi final, he’s secured his place back in the Top 16. And it would be a foolish person to rule out a 2nd world title for him.

Intriguing afternoon and evening session coming up between O’Sullivan & Selby.

Very disappointing that the Irishman bowed out in such a heartbreaking manner. At least a £10,000 highest break prize for his 146 could mean some compensation.

At this stage there’s still a chance of an all-Cork final between Murphy and O’Sullivan and such a clash would put the seal on a really special week for sport on Leeside. On Sunday evening Corkonians may be equally interested in what happens the 15 reds on the pitch and the 15 reds on the table. But Mark Selby could well be the man to emerge from what looks like the real final against O’Sullivan. 4-4 and two thrilling and tense sessions ahead. Some evening of sport ahead tonight if the expected close finish materialises.

Ronnie is a funny fuck.

But when asked after the match about his form, O’Sullivan did not take kindly to the suggestion that he is his own harshest critic.

“If someone says that to me again I’m going to stop the interview, because I’m fed up of hearing that,” he told BBC Sport’s Rob Walker.

"When you play poor snooker, you play poor snooker, so I’m not my own harshest critic - it’s just when you play pathetic shots you don’t want to play.

“I don’t listen to what everyone keeps saying that I’m my harshest critic because you don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Fuck Dott, the little weasel faced Hun.

Hopefully O’Sullivan or Selby destroy him in the semis.

 in fairness to dott he had a serious breakdown not so long ago. ronnin is pure class, if he put his mind to it, he could win just about any tournament he wanted to. i really hope he wins his fourth world championship as its no more than his talent deserves.

Get Eurosport on. Selby leading O’Sullivan 12-11 and they’re involved in a tactical battle on the colours.
