The Snooker Thread (Part 1)

Terrific stuff from McManus to make the quarter finals at 45. Mark Williams through to the quarters as well.

Barry Hawkins leading Ronnie 5-3.

John Higgins v Ricky Walden is underway and Mark Selby and Sam Baird play to a finish on the other table. A wonderful night of snooker in store.

A total clearance of 134 has given Selby a lead of 10-7, incredible start from the world number 1.

Hopefully the Walnut will finish off the disgraced John Higgins.

Selby looks to be in great nick as he makes it 11-7, has Baird any answer to this onslaught? Higgins and Walden level at 1-1.

Great fighting spirit shown by Same Baird to win 2 frames on the bounce to drag it back to 11-9 at the mid session interval,

Higgins and Walden are locked at 2-2 but Higgins is 51-0 up in the 5th frame.

And Baird wins his third frame in a row to close the gap to a single frame, 11-10.

Higgins leads Walden 4-3 and is on the verge of winning the final frame of the session too.

Incredible scenes, Baird never potted a ball in the first two frames this evening but the world number 59 has reeled off four in a row and it’s 11-11. This would be some shock if Selby throws this away.

11-11

Unbearable tension out there. Selby is not cueing well at all and has had two chances to take this pivotal frame and blown both. But Baird has never played in an atmosphere like this and is making mistakes, a proper Crucible classic here.

It’s turgid shit.

Then why are you watching it?

Great pot by Selby there, Baird needs a snooker.

12-11 to Selby and he’s in first in this frame.

Ah here.

Absolutely unbelievable. Selby must be sick. Can Baird do it?

He was poxed.

You make your own luck Har, and it looks like Baird’s is running out. Incredible drama.

Selby way too negative there. He should be potting that Green.

Selby crawls over the line, but the Jester will have to seriously up his game if he is to progress further. He was poor tonight.
