Just like at Lakeside, thereās a rich tradition of defending champions being dumped out on the opening day at the Crucible.
Stuart Bingham beating Stephen Hendry in 2000 is my favourite example.

Graham Dott playing some really nice snooker
He didnāt have a good season by his standards but just won the China Open so was bang in form. Very puzzling performance.
Tony Knowles hammering defending champion Steve Davis 10-1 in the opening round in 1982 is surely the biggest shock defeat for a defending champion ever.
