The Thread that was once about GAA Betting in 2015

But at least the pair of ye are confident in your arguments and speak passionately. Going back retrospectively looking for bad or wrong calls is petty.

And for what it’s worth, I disagree that clonmel were rode in the game. I was really hoping they would win, but they got their fair share of easy frees and things on their side too. In the ten minutes of being a man up, they were out scored 4-1.

No.

He deserves this as he was talking bollocks.

The whole reason he said Castlebar hadn’t a hope was their core strength - their mobility - they have a big mobile team who adopt a running game. The whole reason he dismissed them was to big up Cork and Munster club football which has a really poor record in the past 20 years of the All Ireland club. He also dismissed Scotstown out of sight who ran Crossmaglen to the pin of their collar and edged out the 2015 AI runners up on their way. He did this in his usual boorish know it all manner, claiming full knowledge to everything that outweighs everyone else.

Saying a club like Castlerbar who were in an All Ireland Club Championship final three years ago and have honours in Mayo and Connacht club football are not in the same park as a shit Cork club is ridiculous and deserves to be brought up in retrospect when he goes off in another one of his idiotic rants.

As far as All Ireland club football goes, you have Ulster, Connacht and Dublin - the rest are well short of them in recent years.

Fuck me, I actually nearly replied to this thread

I had no comparision of Castlebar and Cork football.

I’m on record as saying Cork club has gone way back.

I did not rate Castlebar on the 2 games i saw where they were inimpressive against weakish teams.
I got it wrong as they improved after that and i have become an admirer.

You still diss munster after Clonmeks oerformances which is dumb.

Fact is the 2 best provinces in football in recent times, Leinster and Connacht are in the final. Both are very consistant.

You said Castlebar would not be able to live with Castlehaven.

I still dismiss Munster club football because it is shit, another defeat today, another year with a Munster club doing diddly squat on the All Ireland scene.

Leinster is not consistent, Dublin is.

Wow.

Dumb award.

I’ll take that as an acceptance that you can’t argue facts.

What that Dublin is in Leinster?

No, you have me there.

No.

It’s that the only clubs in Leinster who seem to have any success are Dublin clubs.

Crossmaglen have had as many defeats and close wins in Ulster as they have had in the All Ireland series.

  • Baltinglass are the last Leinster club not from Dublin to win an All Ireland club - 26 years ago.
  • Portlaoise (2005) and Garrycastle (2012) are the only non-Dublin Leinster sides to win an All Ireland semi-final in the past 24 years of club football
  • The last Munster side to win an All Ireland club was Nemo in 2003, 13 years ago.
  • Since that triumph Munster club sides have only managed to win 3 of their last 13 All Ireland club semi-finals.

The All Ireland club scene has been dominated by Connacht, Ulster and Dublin sides for the past 20 years. That’s just pure fact.

Nearly sucked in again?

God help me, I was. In my slightly inebriated state I was nearly foolish enough to get involved

What if the teams the Dublin teams beat were the second best teams in Ireland in any given hear? It’s a bit of a silly argument you’re making there.

Some of them may very well be, in the Dublin Championship but not in Leinster. I would say the the top 4/5 club teams in Leinster would be Dublin teams, invariably whoever advances from the Dublin Championship will start the favourties for Leinster, in recent years anyway.
