I spent a few days on a trek in Northern Laos with a lad from Clonmel who kept referring to the guide as “lad”. It was alien to me at the time.

The use of the term kid is bugging me of late. I don’t particularly mind the Limerick phrase of “a boy the kid” or variations there of, but when some cunt says “alright kid” or “you don’t get it kid” I want to rip their own arms off and beat them to death.
