The War Films Thread

BBC 2 now the classic Heroes of Telemark just starting

I’ve the house to myself and about to watch Land of Mine

  • post-World War II Denmark, a group of young German POWs are forced to clear a beach of thousands of land mines under the watch of a Danish Sergeant who slowly learns to appreciate their plight.

  • In post-World War II Denmark, the Danish government puts their hated German prisoners of war to work clearing the 1.5 million landmines from the western beaches of the country. At one such beach, Sgt. Carl Leopold Rasmussen finds himself in charge of one such labor unit and finds they are largely all inexperienced boys.

Technical issues. I am now watching the Beekeeper

I just finished the Pacific. It’s grand but it isn’t as good as band of brothers.

The bit on the train when Snafu doesn’t say good bye to sledge is brilliant.

I see they didn’t talk for 35 years but sledge carried snafus coffin.

Very different times.

The fighting on the pacific was absolutely horrific. Very grim.

A great storyline and acting. Not your typical shoot-up.

Von Ryan’s Express on Channel 4 now.A classic.

Has this fella ever played anything other than a Sergeant Major in the movies

Saw “Warfare” tonight. Thought it was really well done. Very intense. Hard men Navy Seals obvisously shitting it!
The actors were advised and trained by the actual Seals from that mission. Shows it during it during the credits at the end.
Seriously loud :loud_sound:. Has to be seen on the big screen, for the volume of it alone

It’s written and co-directed by one of the soldiers who went through it
