šŸŒ¬ The Weather Thread part 2

Why should we ā€œrent oneā€? People should be free to drive their cars when and where they want.
By introducing car pooling schemes into rural areas, you are taking away peopleā€™s freedoms. If rural Ireland had a decent bus & rail service then a car pooling scheme might be a runner, but it doesnā€™t.

Because it saves you money

Youā€™ll still need a second car to get you to the rental car thatā€™s sitting 10 miles from your house.

Iā€™ll take the freedom to travel when and where I want any day over saving a few bob.

I can travel there on West Limerickā€™s imaginary LUAS.

its not about you mate, some people will welcome the chance of not wasting money on a second car, your selfishness is an attack on rural oireland

Youā€™re wasting your breath trying to deal with these hypocrites.

No one is forcing them to waste any money. Limiting peopleā€™s transport options is not a good move, climate crisis or not.

are you too tick to see dat dis is a good ting?

Seems sensible to me; people can have the expense of owning a car they barely ever drive or they can rent one when they need it to spare themselves insurance, petrol and motor tax bills. I donā€™t see any impinging on personal freedoms there, only more choices.

@Gary_Birtles_Lovechi doesnt want it so he is determined to stop anyone else having it

Tell us so, mate, are SUVā€™s a good thing?:slightly_smiling_face:

People who live in rural Ireland drive their car quite often. There is often no alternative.

And providing a car sharing service is not an alternative?

If the people want it, let them vote for it in the next GE.

Erm, the Green Party have a mandate and are in Government at present

The point is that itā€™s not viable and will be a terrible investment. Like many of the green solutions, their poor little hearts are in the right place but the stupid cunts are burning money to beat the band.

Itā€™ll actually lead to more journeys because of the lack of public transport at both ends

Well you canā€™t have bus services traipsing down every boreen in the country either mate, which would be a worse investment

Rural Ireland, like every other rural part of earth, relies on cars. Fix the urban situation where car journeys are pointless or unnecessary 90% of the time
