RTE have a couple of people on the payroll who are not meteorologists who do a perfectly serviceable job of presenting the weather, like Nuala Carey.
RTE1 weather is presented by a meteorologist who also prepares and scripts the whole thing, thatās a good thing, I think so anyway.
Iāve always liked Joanna Donnelly, seems very natural
The TG4 ladies are where itās at
Incorrect. Nuala Carey, Helen Curran and others often do the RTE 1 weather after the 1 oāclock news.
6 o clock news, 9 o clock news, those are the events.
And if they choose to go away from that good luck to them, but then youāre paying two people to do one presentation
Itās a curious one. Demographically thereās beirt fhear agus an madra living in the Gaeltacht yet they seem to have a conveyer belt of absolute stunners.
But but but the 9 o clock news
Maybe it is, Iāve never seen the one o clock news. Maybe I got that wrong, @StoneCold, no harm done
The 6 and 9 news weather have always been presented by a meteorologist who prepares and scripts the weather, prepares the maps etc, itās not a 2 minute job
They have been but TV3 / Virgin and TG4 have shown that any normal person can be equally as effective doing it so thereās nothing stopping RTE employing the same approach given theyāre already doing it
Maybe there is some sort of agreement with Met Ćireann, I donāt know
I would venture that people who have a lot invested in the weather would be happier to have the main bulletins presented by an expert rather than somebody relying on autocue.
It doesnāt affect or bother me, just pointing out that there isnāt a queue around the corner of people in a position to take Joannaās RTĆ gig at the moment, most meteorologists, and there isnāt a huge pile of them, would run a mile
I didnāt see it on Tuesday, but I saw her Six-one report there and she did a great job, maybe it was an off day, we all have them
Give me hope
Joanna is a bit of an attention seeking auld bint. Has she been on RTEās dancing with the staff yet?
I think our resident meteorologist @TreatyStones woud do a fantastic job of it.
Heād add a bit of spice to it anyway with quips like āsweltering heat - advantage Limerickā and occasional references to the likes of @Rintintin and Julio.
Speaking of said RTT is nearly time for his customary Christmas messageā¦
Thereās a right nip in it this evening.
Hate that damp oul cowld.
Serious thunder storm here in L.A
Hail, lightening and pissing rain. This is like the apocalypse
Power out here after a fine blast of thunder and lightning to go with the rain all morning
Thereās a bit of a stretch in the evenings thank God
