Brisbane got hit bad with rain and a lot of flooding. They wwre badly hit about 15 years ago as well

Well the thing is many locals have seen this and very recently. Ex tropical cyclone Alfred sat off the Brisbane coast for a few days and then slowly moved inland and became a tropical low. Dumped a shit ton of water on southern QLD / northern NSW.
People were more prepared this time and the flooding wasn’t as bad as feared.
Work done in recent years has helped. Brisbane yesterday, for example, had its heaviest one day rainfall in over 50 years.
Effects everywhere, my flight out of Melbourne was cancelled late last Wednesday and I had to spend another night.

But (and it’s a big but). This cyclone hit Brisbane. Cyclones are not meant to hit that far south. With man made climate change and the oceans warming considerably, we will see cyclones hitting further and further south. I expect to see the tail end of them where I am soon. Many places like Lismore in northern NSW will become unliveable. They are uninsurable now.
