The Weather Thread

calm down tinnion, airport is only closed for a few hours, due to open again at 9 pm…Am due to fly into Dublin myself due to them robbing cunts Aer Lingus charging a fortune to go to shannon

Glad to see Dublin getting tail end of what we have had. Creates a bit of media hysteria which is always welcome.
International Airport is currently open and operational.City Airport remains operational, however, they are experiencing cancellations and delays and would urge passengers to contact their airlines with regards to their flight status today.

I’m glad i’m sitting here in front of a fire and beside a radiator.

Where are you exactly, larry?

the same place he always is…up his own hole

you’re pushing it now bando…

a good steady snowfall now in the north kildare hitech zone.
the n4 should be fun now in a few minutes en route home.
i see RTE have only started their minute by minute weather and transport updates now the snow has hit urban ireland, fair enough i suppose in a way,
that statement from longford CC on the rte website crying about the lack of salt, grit and general disregard for the so called weaker counties by the state was pretty pathetic tho…

-6 here according to the car

inside or outside the car?

Mother of jesus, I can’t get my head around these temperatures I’m seeing from home, I can’t remember that kind of cold. Its hilarious here, people are upset because there MAY be a sprinkling of rain on Christmas Day, when it will be hitting 30C.

Is this weather still considered to be a freak event, or are the government looking at planning for it as an annual, long term thing? From the scientific analysis I’ve seen (well, one article in the IT) it seems to be something you can expect for a number of years to come. I see in the UK they have started giving serious consideration to what they have to do for next year (bit late now of course) in terms of planning, personnel and plant.

Half the soft townie cunts seem to have stayed at home this morning. Took a workmate over 6 hours to drive from the office near loughlinstown to dundrum last night. Crazy shite.

Disgraceful that there are suburban housing estates in Dublin you can’t get out of and they are wasting sand gritting roads in parts of the country like mayo and longford where nobody lives.

The fog was something else this morning in Limerick.
Very dense and freezing as it came into contact with anything, including my face.

Ah lovely, bus route diverted and it takes me closer to work. Banter.

It’s the ice age all over again. Just been out around the yard and everything is frozen rock solid. The dog looks like Roudy from Scrubs. -8 conditions. I’ve never seen it so cold back here.

Eh private estates? Get the community association together and employ someone to do it, depending on the size of the estate it may only cost 20-30 euro’s a house. I am just shocked at the lack of community organisation in modern Ireland, especially Urban Ireland. All they want to do is bitch and moan about what not others are doing for them. Fuck off and deal with it yourself. Where i’m originally from they have a great community spirit, and local farmers or tradesmen or whoever just get things done. Where i live now nobody even knows the person next door, its fucking weird.

My eyes were opened big time in the States, the places i lived there was far better local community awareness and pulling together in times like this. A snow plough was just hired, and salt brought in and there was no more about it, the residents paid, small money too. A guy would plough a reasonable sized estate for 200 dollars, might take him an hour or two. People were getting looked after cheaply, but he was still getting very well paid.

Great call Kev.

Will forward me on a few numbers of snow plough operators, can’t get through to my regular guy.

So basically America is the best place ever then? I agree bro.
