The West’s Awake

“We’re a proud county. The West’s Awake, that song is about Munster and Leinster coming together in the 13th century to fight against Connacht and we ran ye, through Curlew’s Pass and Ardrahan. We ran the Normans, which was ye lads from Munster and Leinster. It isn’t ‘croppy lie down’ as regards Galway and I’m bloody glad that that manifested itself this year at Croke Park.

He’s getting a little carried away there.

Now is the time to crush all your enemies, when you stand astride the mountain, victorious.

Serious mugging off of Wexford there :grinning:

What about Mayo?

They’re busy driving cars onto roundabouts to paint and climbing bridges on the N4 to hang flags.

Good honest hard-working regular people, more luck to them.

Crush our enemies. See them driven before us. And hear the lamentation of the women.

Informative rating.

Enough is enough guys. There is a tremendous amount of goodwill towards Galway winning this because of the sheer novelty value. But don’t over-egg the pudding.
