Thing on RTE tonight at 7.30pm about the Landsdowne riot in 1995

Might be worth a watch depending on who they wheel out. hi5

That’s Scannal isnt it?

Quality show that is - smashing episode on Catherine Nevin about a month ago

Yeah, it’s the Scannal thing. Haven’t seen footage of the Gardai wading in for a good few years now so looking forward to it. I remember at the time there was a picture of a young kid crying on the pitch all over the papers the next day. All the clubs in England/Scotland wanted to know who he supported to see if he’d like to come watch a game at their ground. The little fook must have pretended he supported about 25 teams such was the number of free trips he got out of it.

And there he is all grown up! What was the point in that hooligan bloke - stupid having him in it.

With rings in his nose and playing bass guitar in a death metal band.

The riot seems to have taken its toll on the kid.

Not a bad effort all in all.

Bump

you would have to say, that at the end of the day and for all their plastic republicanism and fcuk off british soldiers guff, that this was the chance the celtic supporters and co had to dish out a good and proper beating to the english on home turf, and what happened… their balls shrivelled up and they allowed them to trash the place in full view of the watching football world

the english showing their true colours and yet they cry over not gettin the world cup ha

An Garda Siochana did a fine job that night.

Here’s to some high jinx next June (apparently).

I know it was a friendly (boom boom) and everything, but does David Kelly’s goal count as an official goal, given that the game was abandoned?

game was given as a 1-0 win to Ireland

they havent beaten us since the early 80’s

nice fact that

Combat 18 till I die. Bring back the Home Internationals.

why what’s next june?

The Carling Nations Cup? Is that still going ahead?

Unless he means the Europa League final, but thats in May.

[/quote]Our record will remain intact. Is this thing actually happening though Sledge?

Sandymount strand saw some action that night.

FAI apparently close to announcing a friendly with KIB and Foleys crowd next June in Lansdowne sledge

I shit on a stairs.

I was watching this years Hurling final and got talking to a lad who was at the game and in the middle of the rumpus, ripping up seats and lobbing things onto the stand below.

He was quite aggrieved at the treatment he received from the Gardai outside the ground.

“I thought the Irish were famous for their hospitality?” he said.

Thick cunt.
