Has that not always been the case though? Rare it would happen, but for example in 07, Kilkenny only beat limerick outside of leinster and other leinster teams (if they were any use) could have come that route. Realistically, it would only happen a Munster team, and with Kilkenny and Galway being decent over the past while, it hasnât happened.

Yep, Limerick could have done it in 2013 for instance, which would have double-asterisked the All-Ireland that year. Clare going outside the province to beat Laois, Wexford and Galway means itâs just a single asterisk for them.
Kilkenny only beat Leinster teams in 2000
I wouldnât count it, Galway came through outside of the leinster championship. Either way, it could have happened for a long time, not just with the new format

I accept your point. But I think the new format makes it more likely. In the âoldâ qualifier system, you had a draw and could technically draw any team to a certain extent. The new system more or less increases the possibility of it happening. Anyway it was only an observation is all.
