Poet Brendan Kennelly has a daughter named, oddly enough, Doodle.

Now he’s probably an alright sort but calling a child Doodle is wrong on many levels.

She was christened Kirsten, Doodle might be a nickname. Brendan used to be a martyr for the drink. I used to frequent O’Neills in Suffolk St in the days when it was a proper pub. No matter what time of the day or night you’d be in there, Brendan would be there and he was a messy drunk.

Edit: it might be the drugs. Read a piece a few years back. Trying to remember who her (ex) partner/husband is/was… Either a musician or a journalist or a bit of both.

I was over in Shanghai about ten years ago. Got taxis around - was convinced I would be killed (Ironically ten years later in Spain I felt safe until my taxi driver fell asleep on a motorway).

Anyway In China Each trip was scarier than the last. They drive at each other and pull back in last moment.

All the drivers have a really long nail on little finger. I was told it was to show they don’t do manual work.
