Beagles are the most relinquished breed of dog in Ireland. Their hunting instincts donât make for good house pets.

Is that right. Iâve come across three beagles in the last year, all pets and one of them was a pup and was one of the loveliest pups I ever saw. One was a short beagle I think, itâs a smaller version. I want to get a dog in the nearish future and Iâd been thinking of a beagle.

Lovely dogs, but theyâll drive you mad⌠Very active and their noses are unreal. If you leave them off lead theyâll nearly always disappear for a while tracking down something⌠You canât really train them in the same way you can other dogs with their hunting instinct and strong nose.

I believe so.
If you are living in the city, its cruel to get a beagle. They want fields and hunting. Being stuck in the back yard of a city house all day isnât fair.

Thatâs incorrect. As long as a dog gets walked and looked after they are fine in any environment. Certain dogs need open spaces but most dogs want to be with their owners.
Youâd want your head examined to be getting a dag without a decent back yard and an island for it to run around.
