Or not a bridge, a lane way… I’m getting deja-vu, was I talking to you about this before? Annfield Lane in New Ross.

It’s in Rosbercon, just down the hill from the Parish Pump pub.

Wexford side?

Yeah Rosbercon doesn’t become Co Kilkenny until somewhere around the Holy Faith school, which is further up the hill from Anfield Lane.

Going by Google Maps, about 10% of Anfield Lane is in Kilkenny. Never knew that link before. For an absolute shit hole of a place, New Ross has some history attached to it.

There’s a rumour also that the bell from Selskar Abbey in Wexford Town was brought to St. Domingo’s by Everton as well. But that’s all that is, rumour.

Rockin Ronnie was the first Irish Catholic?

Yer man Billy Lacey in the 1920s may have been Catholic.
It was another half a century before they let a fenian about the place.
Souness cleared out the Irish again fairly sharply in the 90s.

Fuck off Joe.

Plonking a 12-16 month old in front of a screen so you can watch Man U at the dinner table…

We were in the New Park in Kilkenny for a few nights and seeing one couple with 3 kids plonk them all in front of screens from the off - even a 12-16 month old (head phones n all) was all kinds of fucked up. Both parents were in Man U jerseys and were watching the uefa cup on a tablet…

I know dinners out can be testing but so many parents around us just went straight to screens.

We always bring colouring or toys and very rarely do we have to resort to netflix on the phone… but it happens on occasion- particularly when in a busy spot and service is a little slow.

We’re blessed that our lot are extremely well behaved in public and in the company of others… it must be tough if you’ve a very active fucker and of course some kids obviously have various conditions… i get it, you cant label everyone… but putting a little 12 month old in front of a screen for the bones of 2 hours is child abuse. And nothing will convince me otherwise… scrren time is so bad for developing minds not to.mind a baby.

I was gonna question ya at the start, but in the end I couldn’t agree more. It’s an easy lazy cop out for parents.

I think every parent goes there on occasion but yeah. It’s very lazy. A good old fashioned game of i spy still works!

Yeah a lot of parents are just lazy these days. Maybe they are overworked and stretched but the line of less resistance is more often than not always taken when it comes to screens. We brought our 2 little ones on a plane recently. It was only 2 hr journey but novelty of experience meant they werent bored. We built up experience and got them window seats and after a while then the colouring books were brought out. There would never be screens during a dinner out or on a long car journey. Only situation where the phone would be given is if it were 6 or 7 O clock at night and I wanted them to not fall asleep in the car until we got home.

As far as I can see a certain cohort of my generation that are parents have never had it better. Can do their half marathons or Hyrox. Go over to some random european city and do their event and have a mini break while the parents or inlaws mind the childer. Do the same for their birthdays, anniversary’s. And a trip to center parcs to keep the children happy too. I’d have no problem asking a favour for a night for a wedding, match or a gig but would be fairly sheepish asking someone to mind my kids for 3 or 4 nights. Some people are living their best life and Good luck to them if they have that kind of support.
