This is the hottest summer you have ever had but its the coldest summer for the rest of your life (repent - stop climate change)

Dopamine is killing the planet. I want, I want, I want.

We’ll have all the dopamine we need when Limerick blow up in the heat.

It was like this for 2 months in 1984 from what I can remember. June 2013 was a full month of this too

RTE on their website were saying it’s too early to blame the floods on climate change

Bizarre

Tis called Summer. Get out and enjoy it.

All scientists?
What about priests, mullahs, rabbis or reverends? I’m sure some of them put the weather down to God’s wrath

The environment is the biggest crisis the planet has ever known.

I pay no heed to creeds…

Doubt it. The planet has had bigger crises than this.

We’ll suffer and might not survive it but earth will keep spinning and life will remain in some form or other.

Well, I hope you are right… But what was bigger? The Black Death? Not sure myself… WW II, I guess.

I think you are mixing up crisis for humanity and crisis for the planet. Whatever caused the extinction of the dinosaurs was worse for starters.

Well, I agree. That distinction is correct.

Was thinking of planet, although crisis is man made, icebergs calving and so on. The destruction of insect life, likewise man made, is beyond depressing.

True on dinosaurs – but hard to feel any relation to that event, since it is such deep time.

Yip, possibly the planets biggest humanitarian crisis on the cards alright.

There is probably too many of us… If all 8 billion needed a basic safe and dry house with heat in the winter and everyone needed 3 basic meals a day… Have we even got the resources for that?

Do you really think there is genuine scientific consensus on something as complex as the climate …never mind mans impact on it?

We likely do have resources – with caveats about distribution. And population has apparently peaked and will level out, in a global sense, by end of 21st century. But certain well flagged places, such as parts of Africa, will be in big bother.

Cutting down forests to grow soya to feed to livestock is beyond nuts. But cheap protein is the opium of nearly everyone…

I do not like to think about such matters too much.

Apparently population growth is plateauing and there are sufficient resources for all of us. I’m not downplaying climate change and it’s dangers but there has always been a sense of pending apocalypse within humanity, all humanity. Our native religion is founded on the notion of preparing for the imminent end of days and before climate change we lived in fear of mutually assured destruction.

What about the fish supper ? Isn’t that in danger ?

Mad stuff.
Everyone knows floods only started in 2021.
