Never knew that he was still a refugee and hadn’t actually been given residency to live here permanently. He could never sign a professional contract due to his legal status.

he was never a refugee as he hadnt been granted asylum status. he had been granted leave to remain. he had also been issued with the Deportation order back in 2017, which was only effected yesterday and in the meantime he was able to play frootball professionally for 2 years. that illustrates one of the big flaws in the asylum system.
