A very questionable individual. You’d have to be happy to see them bet today given what the father did to Ballybay

I’d nearly always have a bit of a soft spot for northern club teams particularly when it comes to the business end but Kilcoo haven’t a redeeming feature between them.

The no2 with the short shorts and the knee high socks looked like a particularly aggravating person.

Maybe it’s the age I am but I have a dreadful suspicion of lads who wear the socks pulled up over their needs - attention seekers.
There was a Moroccan lad, their corner back I’d say, who’d reverted completely to the socks down, pads abandoned approach for the final 10 minutes there yesterday.
Lads carrying on with that shitehawkery are not to be trusted.
Kane a prime example.

Kilcoo thrive off the ‘everyone is against us’ mindset and to be fair their achievement of winning an AI Club in the modern era with a such a small pick must be one of the greatest Club GAA feats ever.

I do wonder though when the “Kings of Ireland” sign will be coming down…

Kilcoo are everything that was great about the gaa. The under dog winning. The little guy getting a big day out.

Thanks to the split season well never see under dog stories at inter county level. It’ll be just the sale two or three counties in hurling and football every year like club soccer.

I have some magic beans that might interest you

Its amazing how lads on here who love all the shithousery at the World Cup yet look down their nose at a team like Kilcoo.

You’d wonder at some lads

Fellas on here are happy for clubs to fold so they get their big days out in croke park and super eights.

A lovely level of seethe and hatred on show today despite victory.

The Ulster club football championship and the Ulster senior football championship are magnificent.

The undercurrent of needle there today was off the charts.

The Ulster Club is the GAA’s Superbowl yet split season zealots like @myboyblue want it cancelled to make more time for their beloved Inter county.

I wouldn’t worry too much about it, it can go on ahead and people can take or leave it

There has not been a better stadium redevelopment in the GAA than than the Armagh Athletic Grounds. I feel I can take a small deal of personal credit for its success given that I was one of the lucky ones to be present on its grand opening night back in 2011. Those of us who were there at the start to support the good ship Athletic Grounds as it set sail feel part of its success.

It’s the home of Ulster club football, the MacRory Cup , the Most Reverend Doctor Patrick McKenna Cup and so much more, it has become Ireland’s premier boutique venue.

Another great showcase for it yesterday.

St. Conleth’s Park, Newbridge needs the same tender loving care. The natural home of Leinster club football in an incomparable town centre location by the Liffey. The sort of place that warms the cockles of the heart on bitter winter afternoons, before transforming into its summer finery for glorious Saturday evening All-Ireland football qualifiers.

Was that Armagh v Down 2011? The night of the Champions League Final in Wembley? Armagh had a famous win?

What was the old Armagh Athletic Grounds like? I have no recollection of it but do remember reading it was a grey, grim concrete venue?

It must have taken them a fair while to redevelop it as Armagh played most home games in Crossmaglen throughout the 2000’s from memory.

Opening night was Armagh v Dublin in the NFL on February 6th, 2011, a Saturday night. Dublin won by about five points with Bernard Brogan scoring an opportunist clinching goal late on with a Mattie McGleenan style “add” to a bouncing through ball. Nippy Swift scored about four or five points from play for Armagh.

I was in the old Armagh Athletic Grounds once, an NFL game between Armagh and Dublin on October 29th, 1995, played on a dry, cold, dusky Autumn Sunday during which the piercing sound of many rockets could be heard. Armagh won something like 0-9 to 0-6. It was a very basic venue with three gravel banks and a clubhouse at one end. and the commentary position on the far side to where it is now.

I’m open to correction but I don’t believe there was a championshhip game in the Athletic Grounds from May 28th, 1995 when Armagh played Derry until May 28th, 2011 when they played Down.
