Finished as a starter. I really think he could still do huge damage in the last 15/20 minutes of a game as it becomes more loose and fluid.
Championship 15?
Hogan
Barrett - Ronan - Morgan
Breen - Heffernan - Brian McGrath
C Connolly - Dan
Keohe - Bonnar - Bubbles
J McGrath - Callanan/Forde - Jake
Yes - let thst sink in !!
Don’t be a silly cunt
Breen wing back
And if the game was played on Christmas Day I would have arrived at a similar take
Where was he as a minor?
He was a very good full back at minor.
He hasn’t played in the backs since under 21 with Willie Maher. Maybe he could do a job there but people have been calling for him to play in the backs for 8/9 years. It’s not going to happen.
I’d argue he’d be better facing the play and driving forward with possession.
Games have either been good or just completely bypassed him as a forward & I think MF is actually worse for that with him.
We need to be pragmatic.
Barry Hogan
Cathal Barrett, Padraic Maher, Barry Heffernan
Seamus Kennedy, Ronan Maher, Brian McGrath
Mikey Breen, Dan McCormack
Mark Keohe, Noel McGrath, John O’Dwyer
John McGrath, Jason Forde, Jake Morris
You could make a case for Bonnar ahead of Keohe and Callanan is still more dangerous than Morris but shur look, it is what it is.
Kerry hurling folk expected a trouncing , the kerry squad today was decimated by retirements, players not committing this year, Kilmoyley players absent due a munster final tommorow, injuries, Covid etc
Fairly sure Sheedy played him full back in a challenge game vs Waterford in November/December 2018 and Patrick Curran ran in a hat trick in 20 minutes and the experiment was abandoned.
I’d leave him on the bench until he starts putting 2 games back to back.
Would Willie Connors have started for Ballina tomorrow?
If so wtf did management play him today?
He’ll struggle to do that off the bench though
Watching him the last decade and sick of a 9/10 being followed up by a 2/10.
Give me a solid 7/10 grafter like Cathal Malone or Bill Cooper any day.
Breen for me is a lad who hurls in fits and starts. Will hit 1-2 or 3 points in a 10 or 15 minute spell and be on the periphery for the rest of the match. All his best work just seems to come off running off the shoulder of lads and getting on the end of things rather than actually nuts and bolts stuff.
An almost luxury player rather than a lad you could build around. Hard to see him standing out as a back at senior I/C but who knows
Could be a bit harsh on Connolly as the wind was ridiculous and probably very hard to judge; and then Kerry put this giant over on him who was a serious aerial threat.
Where’s this notion coming that Connolly is poor in the air?
He must of being huge to to make Eoghan look small.
