Incorrect mate, Thurles is indeed the home of hurling.
The duds all got lost trying to get there for a football match, I think that may be clouding your judgement.
Tipp in Thurles in 2014 was a quarter final. I may stand corrected here but I believe Thurles was designated the ground in which all senior hurling quarter finals would be played regardless of teams involved. ( like the U21 AIF)
Probably much of a muchness as I’d fancy Tipp regardless but I just don’t think it’s fair to expect Dublin to be away when the games are supposed to be at a neutral venue.
I’m not saying you’re wrong but you would imagine that if the Dublin County Board gave a scuttery fart about it, they would have objected straight away. Put it this way if twas a football 1/4 final against Kerry and they had to go to Killarney, you’d hear all about it.
It’s obvious Tipp fear Dublin, and have badgered the GGA to make sure they have home advantage despite it being stated before the draw that neutral venues would be used. It’s shame the pig ignorant roasters in charge of the GGA capitulated, but we shouldn’t be surprised.
Looking back through the recent list of All-Ireland winners it’s easy to see why they are worried.
It’s notable how few titles Tipp have won since 1965. Stick hurling back then was a game that was mostly played on the ground and it looks like the mullockers of Tipp thrived in this environment. They have been left behind by real stick hurling powerhouses like Cork and Kilkenny since the 60s and have now resorted to bullying central council to ensure they have home advantage against Dublin of all teams.
