The coaching and managing of a side is maybe 20% of winning a game the rest is down to what players you have available and how they perform on the day.
It’s the elephant in the room we are all trying to ignore…
Sure didn’t ye all put 100% of the blame on poor Allen for the collapse v Clare last year? Backtracks starting in earnest already & not a ball pucked :D.
Some might have questioned his use of the subs available or not taking off a clearly off color Hannon but it’s down to the players on the pitch to win games in any sport,Brian Cody has had the handiest job nearly 15 years now and it’s only lately things are starting to get tough! how would he do with say a Limerick or Waterford? the Pep Guardiola of hurling managment.
No, idiot. @Rocko please ban @carryharry from posting on hurling threads for a fortnight for his persistent foolishness.
Hannon DOG Jim Bob I expect.
On the ever-knowledgeable Hoganstand forum they are claiming that Hickey will start at 15 and play as an extra midfielder.
Which ever three start at HF for limerick I can’t see them being too rigid in those positions. Still talk of Dodge at CF too.
Hickey named at 15 is interesting, we did it with Allis in the league semi and it makes sense given the players we have available as I pointed out a while back. But who is he going to leave out? Mulcahy and Downes have to start. You’d expect Hannon to start. I get the impression he will do his best to start Dowling. Jim Bob has been a fixture and I still expect DOG at 11.
I get the impression he likes Tom Ryan too and will start him midfield with Browne. I think we need Hickey I’m just not sure where Teege will accommodate him. The player i’d leave out at the moment would be Paudie.
What age is Tom Ryan and is he up to this? have seen nothing of him at club level is he a pacey or power type midfielder?
Ryan is 22 and is a serious athlete. Best suited to half-back or midfield and it’s a toss-up whether himself of Hickey get the nod on Sunday.
He’s about 23-ish. Played u-21 two years ago against Tipp in the Gaelic Grounds I think, was one of our better players on the night. Then again we were brutal all over that night.
I’d rate him, quick and will cover the ground. Fairly well built, he’ll be well able for the physical stuff. Came on as a sub against Clare last August and scored a point.
Bit of both. Big rangey player, good in the air, good to carry the ball, good striker of the ball, well able to stand up to the physical stuff. He was u21 last year (or the year before?). John Allen was using him as a sub at wing back two years ago for Wayne Mc in the last 5-10 mins of games. Out of favour briefly during the league but I reckon that is all forgotten with the departure of the corkman.
I’d start him wing back on sunday.
Done.
Super adminning
Agreed. Disappointing to see some of the Limerick shower resorting to underhand tactics off the field. Shows a lack of fight if they need to get others to do their dirty work for them.
He got it.
how has this gone unnoticed??..what a crock of shit of a post… Cody has managed kilkenny for 66 championship matches and only named an unchanged team 7 times…

A bit late but welcome soundings… Mullane was at it yesterday, hopefully one or two more come out and put Tipp in an AI final without pucking a ball.
