Garda vetting in gaa s now done online. You get it or don’t get it in weeks.

thats odd it took so long. I’m talking clubs too, the welfare officer of the club has to verify the ID and it all gets processed online then in a few weeks. 2 months max I would say from start of procedure to being approved. And same for being allowed coach or not, you have to have it before allowed coach. Although as I say, I’m not sure if that is a GAA ruling or just our club

It is now a criminal offence, for a person acting on behalf of the GAA, or for the GAA as an Association to permit any person to commence working with children on behalf of the Association without that person first obtaining a vetting disclosure from the National Vetting Bureau in respect of the role for which they have been recruited. It is also a breach of GAA rule if you are working with children or vulnerable adults on behalf of the Association and have not been vetted.”
My understanding at the time was once you got it to cops you were covered. They were responsible to red flag anything.
What does the Garda vetting consist off? Is it just a search of the Pulse system to see if you have any charges against you or something and then the Gardai sign off on whether you can coach or not?

They played an interview on Matt Cooper there of an interview between the host and David Walsh in December 2012.
Walsh had praised Humphries as “a fine man” in a book he had just written.
Cooper asked if that is acceptable considering the serious allegations made against Humphries at the time. Walsh replied that Humphries was a “great, great man.”
When Cooper made a point of saying that it was hypocritical for someone to vilify Lance Armstrong but offer support to someone facing these serious charges he said it was an “odious” comparison.
Also Walsh said that he knew more about this case than anyone and that he was confident “the truth will all come out in due course.”
Walsh came across as an utter cunt.
