Tonight's TV - Continuation of earlier drivel

He was, im saying even that gobshite could sway the argument a bit. Did you hear Brid Smith. Simple fact is Steen is the only trained arguer, Mary Lou is the closest competition.

Steen has been lying through her teeth and getting away with it unchallenged.

About what? The draft bill?

and was it true? Her father said to use her face on posters for the yes campaign.

seems to be no comments from the husband. Hardly someone from the no side lying again?

There was this though about Ronan Mullens.

Mcgrath hardly falsely quoted him?

it was serious scaremongering. Fuck sake. Saying if there was doubt at the end that the baby would just be aborted and not delivered. Fucking hell, thats outrageous stuff that should have been challenged more vigorously. You’ll have dumb fucks no voting no because they think a doctor can just decide themselves to abort a baby.

Why not?

Yeah she very tactfully shouted over boylan who was trying to clarify that. Lawyers. Boylan never recovered from the early body shot steen gave him about him being asked to resign today. It visibly rattled him.

Cos that would surely easily be established and look terrible

You dont know much about matty do you

Journal.ie used to do a fact checking exercise during last election and the amount of absolute lies that were told on live debates was unreal

He looked despondent to be honest. Every time someone roared something at him and he trying to explain it was just a big sigh. It’s a seriously emotive debate and its very hard to talk to women who have had miscarriages and not be taking personal shots at them.

Exactly. Hes spent his whole career caring for these ladies and now they are haranguinung him and calling him a liar

That was an absolutely frightening vista into the true insanity of the No camp.

Their shrieking, hectoring and bullying of Peter Boylan was horrifying. They hate him because they can’t rebut his arguments and they can’t rebut his facts.

It must be a very worrying time to be a woman in Ireland. The lack of empathy from the No side is truly terrifying.

We must protect our women and vote Yes.

Yeah that back and forth was very wrong and had no place in a reasoned debate, which that wasnt. Ultimately no one on the no’s had an answer to o riordans question of would they push a 12 year old rape victim to full term, but we’rent pressed for an answer.

But the yes’s had no answer to the doctors et al who said they were treating two patients not one, and all they could lean on was hard cases, ignoring the abortions on demand.

Too far reaching legislation to win me thinks.

Every case is a hard case.

That was a shambolic debate, RTÉ need to be fucked out of it for creating such an emotive, vitriolic bearpit in which to hold a debate on this topic. Claire Byrne was woeful at moderating, far more concerned with regulating the use of the word liar than she was with preventing loonies roaring from the audience.

+1.

An embarrassment to the national broadcaster. It was like watching the Jerry Springer Show. The way the No supporters were allowed to behave was disgraceful.

Claire Byrne Live is a dreadful programme in general. Tabloid shite every week, but never more than this week.

The real story tonight is that Clare Byrne is getting €200k per annum off RTE . She is not good .

but a few times there was questions asked to the no side as to what solutions had they for those hard cases, the hard cases they keep saying to ignore, but is that the answer? just ignore the hard cases?

of course there are doctors who will see it as 2 patients, not one, and ethically or morally are totally against it and 100% should be their right. I’m no doctor, but the no side didnt really try answer it and I suppose the answer wouldnt have gone down well.

The legislation isnt that far reaching. If you look across to other countries, its one of the most restrictive and only just about covers itself. It’s being painted as this horrific abomination that other places are worse. Canada has a less restrictive abortion regime than the UK. But they have less abortions. So why doesnt that point be used?

There was a lunatic fringe on both sides.
