Tonight's TV

Some serious hard hitting jounalism starting now on tv3ā€¦

No Vincent? On the beer I suppose.

:guns:Vincent had better be back tomorrow night

neil delameres programme tonight was a complete rip off of harry hillā€™s tv burp

Was he any good? I watched three minutes of his stand-up dvd and it was fucking abysmal.

The worst piece of stand up ever. Shockingly bad.

Irish comedians are generally shite.

The only good ones I think of were Dā€™unbelievables, Shortt has shown what he is made of with that diabolical Killnascully, and Dylan Moran, but he spends most of his time in London.

Not following your Dylan Moran logic there Farmer - is he shite because he spends time in London or not Irish because he spends time in London?

Heā€™s class anyway.

Most of the unfunny lads now like Tommy Tiernan, Ardal Oā€™Hanlon, Jason Byrne were very good for a while - look at our record in the Edinburgh Comedy Festival where we punch above our weight. Most comedians have problems with longevity.

When was Jason Byrne good?

I posted something here and it didnā€™t come up.

Anyway, to summarise, Moran is completely based in London these days and has been for a while so to call his ā€˜Irishnessā€™ in terms of comedy is somewhat diluted.

I thought Tiernan was excellent when he started but I never rated the other two guys at all.

Never.

Ever.

Dylan Moran is class alright-went to see him a few weeks ago in Vicar St. A good bit of his stuff was topical to Ireland anyway so donā€™t know what Farmerā€™s saying really about his diluted Irishness.

Tommy Tiernan was utterly fantastic when he started out-have prob seen him 5 or 6 times now but he got progressively worse as he went along to the point where he is scutter now.

Have never got Dara O Briain-think heā€™s shite and annoying.

300 is on TV3 Tonight.

Must see TV.

I canā€™t wait for Gangland Capitals on TV3 on Thursday night.

First stop, Limerick. :guns: :guns:

Way back in 1998/99ish. He was funny then and I think he might have won a Perrier - he was nominated anyway.

That statement on Dylan Moran is complete horseshit. Like Pikeman I also saw him a few weeks ago and heā€™d plenty of Irish material. Anyway heā€™s from Ireland, heā€™s an Irish comedian. Arguing otherwise is farmeresque.

Comedy Awards, anyone else find the concept of a Comedy Awards to be a bit off? Especially for stand up, whatever about Sitcoms, etc. Always found the Perrier thing a bit odd.

Comedy that is specifically ā€˜Irishā€™ or ā€˜Englishā€™ or ā€˜Americanā€™ or whatever tends to be fairly shite anyway. Itā€™s a cheap route for laughs. Iā€™d actually say thereā€™s more than enough references from Dylan Moran, especially in the ā€˜Like, Totallyā€™ set.

Generally speaking there are few enough quality comedians out there anyway. Iā€™d say there are at a maximum 5 I would ever go to see. Most of the rest rely on drink and knob gags.

Robbie Keane spends most of his time in London therefore he isnā€™t even Irish, the British cunt

Jason Byrne used to be good. I dare say his stand-up is still pretty good. I saw him at the Melbourne Comedy Festival 5 years ago and he was absolutely brilliant.

[FONT=Helv][SIZE=2][FONT=Helv][SIZE=2]I saw him in the old student bar in Belfield and thought he was shite. That would have been around 8 years ago, but I wasnā€™t generally into comedians then and Iā€™m not now either.
