Hard to listen to these accents
This 1916 documentary on RTĂ now is very good.
Good context so far. The home rulers will be seething.
Very enjoyable
Enjoying this 1916 documentary. Itâs very well made.
Schoolboy error there on Bolands Mills.
Itâs superb. Tailored a little for the U.S. market but loads of detail, good talking heads and getting Neeson was a coup.
Iâd say the 51 Brigade of the RA enjoyed the bit where Volunteer Mick Malone mowed down the Sherwood Foresters.
Very enjoyable, Neeson is a cracking narrator.
Just reading there that itâs 80% funded by Notre Dame University 20% RTE and is written by an Irish professor of Irish stuff over there. Itâs cost rte about 900k.
Itâs very good and will become a reference piece to many well into the future.
It really magnifies rte fucking away 6m on The Rebellion which was dire and is good only to be fucked into the bin.
Absolutely. Itâs got that âworld at warâ feel - itâll be the definitive documentary on 1916 for the next 50 years
It is well put together and nicely paced. The interviews with participants along with Neesonâs narration give it a vibe similar to The World At War.

Great minds âŚ
I was thinking the exact same, wasting millions on a shite drama series when you canât beat proper documentaries with interviews of those who were there.
Went to St Maryâs Haddington Rd and our teacher, former Dublin chairman the late John Egan, used to take us down to that junction every year and proudly point out all the bullet holes in the houses there.
thats what happens when you let the Irish in charge of something, sure they probably drank half the money they were given to make it, obviously with American or British involvement you would get a professional product
Very odd to see RTĂ being criticised for part funding and screening an excellent documentary series.
Interesting documentary on Vladamir Putin tonight on Sky 534. @tasotti should enjoy
