No real pub sells food. Bar maybe a toastie.
Much the same as Morrissey’s Doonbeg, generally just stand at the bar as you await a table. Some food but.
I’ve been in a good few of these including Fitzpatrick’s in Louth and The Chop House in Ballsbridge.
Neither hold a candle to either Smugglers Cover in Rossnowlagh or The Strand Tavern in Duncannon.
The Strand isn’t even the best place in Duncannon sure!
Fitzpatrick’s is very good and at least has a proper boozing area. Watched the U21 final last year there and they opened up the bar outside for us.
‘The Strand Tavern’ is the best pub food in Duncannon.
Alridge Lodge is the best restaurant in Duncannon/Aldridge.
You pedantic cunt.
I wasn’t talking about Aldridge Lodge, I was talking about the place across from the Strand which I believe is superior to it.
Now calm down like a good lad
Ok, I just thought that you meant this as Roche’s is not a patch on The Strand Tavern.
@count_of_monte_crist should concur on this.
it depends on what one is looking for:
Sqigl is a nice restaurant and would probably be a little above the Strand Tavern as the latter is more in the gastropub vein with the former branding it self as an actual restaurant.
But, of course, you are entitled to your own opinion Macintosh.
A while since I ate in both but found Roches nicer. All opinions i suppose.
there’s an O missing there sport.
it used to do lovely pub grub but that was a couple of years back.
The Strand has been in the ascendancy on that note for the last 4 years at least.
You need a refresher course young man.
That’s the tagging option that comes up for you sport.
ive jsut noticed there’s an o missing in my username…my god…
It’s not missing - it’s just in the wrong place.
Haven’t eaten there in a good while, maybe 2 years but was decent the last time I was there.
Was playing golf last weekend with a man who was raving about it. Twas still good when I was there early in the summer anyway
Had a serious feed there going back a good few years. The chef kept firing out samples of things he was trying out, in between the regular courses. I couldn’t move after it.
Just heading off to Peploe’s for my first Christmas lunch of the season. I’ll report back in due course - haven’t been there in a few years.
