Fergal Horgan in fairness to him always tried to let the game flow. Rarely made a blatantly wrong decision. He was fair. He’ll be a loss.

What I don’t like about the referee selection process is there seems to be an unwritten rule that there is one ref per county.
I have a feeling Fergal was getting less games as Tipp also have Michael Kennedy and Conor Doyle vying for his position just behind them.
All are better than Sean Cleere and Johnny Murphy but the one ref per county quota means they can’t all be on the panel.

He rode Limerick in the 2013 minor semi final Hawkeye debacle but he learned from it, he liked letting it flow which always suited the top sides.
He’ll be missed, he’ll be reffing Limerick’s in-house training games this summer I’d imagine.

Paud O’Dwyer and Keenan are probably the most likely now to get the big gigs this summer. You’d wonder maybe could RTE or GaaGo give Fergal a role to discuss any contentious decisions on the Sunday Game.
Keep an eye out for Eamonn Furlong (Wexford) as referee next few years. Decent ref.
He’ll probably be on the panel for the preview night in the Woodlands.
