Top Quatorze and Pro de Deux Thread Officielle - endorsed by Gerry Thornley

A feast of top quality rugby this weekend in France. Really looking forward to seeing how Bernard Jackman and my beloved Grenoble get on at the Stade Ernest-Wallon in tonight’s showpiece live TV attraction. J-Sex and Racing Metro face a daunting trip to Castres. Good to see Jonny reaffirming his total commitment to Racing Metro for the rest of the season during the week, not that it was ever in any doubt. And what about the first game up today between Toulon and Clermont Auvergne, talk about a clash of the titans! Some tasty looking action in the Pro de Deux also, particularly the clash of Perpignan and Aurillac.

I’ll be expecting quality input from @Fagan ODowd and @mickee321 on this thread.

There’s now about half a dozen threads about rugby or discussing rugby or betting on rugby on the first page of this forum.

It’s a rugby racing and GAA forum.

Finally some talking points for our dedicated thread.

@dancarter should be able to give us the inside track.

Jacky Lorenzetti must be a worried man.

Incredible scenes at the Stade de France before tonight’s Top Quatorze final between Clermont and Toulon as President Macron met the players.

Le President’s handshakes weren’t a cursory touching of the hands like you’d see in the British Isles. Macron gave a full 10-15 seconds with each player with full eye contact and a continual firm hand engagement.

Two of the darker skinned Clermont players even got down on their knees in thanks to him, presumably for beating that vile boot Le Pen.

Cracking game. The yellow army win the Bouclier :clap:

A great club with great fans.

Couldn’t be more delighted for the genuine rugby fans of the High Massif and Aurelien Rougerie.

The lovely Brigitte here greeting the players.

The Toulon goalkicker is over in New Zealand playing friendlies while the stand in goal kicker misses crucial kicks.

A rotten and cynical organisation. The Le Pens of the Top Quatorze, even if their employment policies are the direct opposite of the National Front’s.

The good guys won tonight.

Absolute farce of a situation. Sling yer hook halfpenny

@Sidney
Paul wallace and franno giving a tour de force here on today fm.
Franno sounds like a man full of liquor firing out broadsides and Paul has the disposition of a man who is on a couch with a cigar after a 4 course meal

The top shagger* is not getting on very well in the Top Quatorze.

However Stuey seems to be olding his own in the Pro de Deux.

*It was actually Olding who said this.

Toulouse have gone back to basics, ie. ridicuously brilliant length of the field tries, and everybody should be delighted about that.

Beautiful stuff

Fantastic

Clermont come up short in another final as Toulouse take their 20th Bouclier de Brennus. Clermonts team of lumbering South Sea islanders never looked like breaching the Toulaisain defensive line.

Wonderful

Like Liverpool, Toulouse are European royalty

The natural order of things has been restored

Clermont are the Juventus of rubby
