When I was a youngfella back in the 80’s the Nissan classic used pass right outside my door as they were doing their circuit up Patrick’s hill and down around st Lukes, think they used have to do it a few times,

Used as well for the Kellogs criterium races that used to be held in Cork. They used to be a right bit if niggle in them with the UK riders. You’d regularly see fellas having to put the bike over the shoulder and walk it up Patricks hill

Anyone any idea what ‘category’ the gradient on Patricks hill would be? Hard enough get up it in a car

In the old days the categories were determined by whether a certain make of Citroen car could get up them in gears 1-4, hence Category 1-4.

The fast lads can get up Patrick’s Hill in less than a minute from Wellington Street. 16% average but it gets to around 25% where the road narrows. A baaaasssht of a hill no matter how many times you do it
