Irish Police Hunt Railway Prank Youth

Irish police have condemned as “criminally stupid” a teenager who was filmed moments away from decapitation in a railway track stunt.

The youth known as “Pikey Mikey” lay under the railway sleepers at Monasterevin Station in County Kildare as the Cork-Dublin express train hurtled towards him.

The stunt was captured on a mobile phone camera and was later posted on to an internet social networking site.

Railway chiefs were stunned by the footage, which shows the teenager digging himself into a hole in the track’s ballast, egged on by friends on the station platform.

The short clip shows the youngster sticking his head up between the sleepers just moments before the express train thunders over him, to the delight of his friends on the platform.

But Iarnrod Eireann fear there could be copycat incidents, and have warned that next time a prankster could be killed.

Spokesman Barry Kenny said: "There is no doubt this was a criminally stupid act and we are determined they don’t get away with it.

At Monesterevin trains are allowed to travel at speeds of 100mph, utter stupidity!!

I haven’t watched this you tube and I don’t intend to give it a hit either, each hit imflames a stupid ego even more.

Flano, I wouldn’t let the train driver suffer the guilt, it’s the worst part of a train drivers job, the fear of killing an idiot like picky mikey or a “jumper”. Many drivers dont go back to the stick after making a suicide attempt successful.
