Not quite a TV Rights issue but close enough. ITV seem to be getting a bit of blow back on social media for replacing Clive Tyldesley with the utter gimp Sam Matterface as their main football commentator.

I see Virgin have pulled their sports pack from eir with immediate effect?

Ouch

That’s some mess from EIR. Presume it was some negotiation tactic with sports suspended or something. They’ll have to refund sports customers now you’d imagine

Virgin Sports is part of the standard Eir TV package. Previously it used to be free BT sports put that got pulled and replaced with Virgin Media Sports which has fuck all aside from European football on it.

Is Ireland too small to sustain domestic sports channels ???

It’s inevitable for all sports that the value of their content will go down with no fans. The Asian superfans of the Premier League and lads on TFK going ape for British soccer teams like Celtic are attracted by the pageantry of the fans and atmosphere.
