The third series will cover the first half of the third book, so presumably if the ratings stay decent we’ll get 6 series, and more if Martin doesn’t drop dead. And apparently he has detailed notes of the books he has yet to write, so we may still get more series even if he doesn’t get around to finishing the books. 
GoT was fantastic again the other night. The political undertones in it are wonderful, particularly since Tyrion became involved at council level.
Also boasts without doubt, the greatest opening to any TV show, ever.

We talking about the white walkers? Yeah I thought that opening 10 minutes was really really underrated, its even better in the books.
Well I was referring to the opening credits, but the white walkers was good too, dragged you in immediately but the opening credits are unparalelled.
The theme tune is top notch, gets the hairs standing.

It’s good but it goes on way too fucking long.
Given the kingdom its covering, I think its about right and never seems tiresome, the tune to it is epic. Its the only opening credits I never trundle through as despite even having read the books, a refresher on the kingdom is useful each time.
Possibly the worst opening credits? Dexter.
