Anybody watch ‘The Killing’? Second series starting now on Channel 4. Thought the first series was decent enough.
Watched the first episode of Veep there (Ianucci’s new Thick of It set in the USA). Not as good as the Thick of It yet anyway but more than promising and I see it’s already been renewed for a second season so presumably it was well received.
I’ve seen the first two episodes and to be honest it’s a bit mediocre. It’s just not that funny. A lot of it probably has to do with it not having the same level of tension that The Thick of It had. Julia Louis Dreyfuss isn’t as good as Chris Langham was and obviously, the absence of a Malcolm Tucker figure is a big drawback. Maybe it’ll improve but the writing will have to get a lot sharper.
Anyone ever watch ‘Carnivale’? It’s fairly out there, just working my way through the first season. Not sure what entirely to make of it, but it is certainly intriguing and you want to watch more…
‘Carnivale’ is rather excellent. Shame it was cancelled so early.
I’m six episodes into the first season of Damages and I have to say it’s excellent. Better than anything else I’ve watched recently.
‘Damages’ is another fine show. Surprisingly good in fact, it seems rather generic from the outside.
Watching the first series of Eastbound & Down again here
Great fucking show
woo!
Carnivale is class one of my favourite HBO shows like turrene said its a pity they didnt do another couple of seasons
Yeah i watched about 7-8 episodes back to back yesterday to finish season one. It is excellent. First episode of season two on here now but i’m watching this season with a tinge of sadness as i know i will want to watch more and it’s not coming back. It obviously appealed to a select audience and wasn’t popular or financially viable enough to keep making it, despite winning all those awards that it did.
I’m going to start watching Twin Peaks tonight. Anyone here watched it before?
Watched a few of the first series but didn’t stick with it. Seems almost like Ulysses. My oul lad said he watched it weekly when it was on and gradually didn’t have a fucking clue what was going on. I’ll give it another go sometime. The music and the visuals are second to none though.
This is marvelous:

Yes. First season is excellent. Second season less so but still very good.
That’s what happened to me. I was in college a year or so ago and it was being shown every night on one of Sky’s movie channels so it was perfect to watch it. I had about 10 of them Sky+d and couldn’t stick with it. Love it for the good parts and don’t mind about the rest I would say.
That’s what I’m afraid of. I don’t know how long I can stay watching something for the atmosphere and cinematography alone, especially in this age of easy distraction.
Watched it first time round. Story started off great just decent mystery show, then went fucking bananas
Stop watching after season 2. Great show up to that. Absolutely terrible thereafter.
Later With Jools Holland is a terrific show.
Anyone watch Gold Rush on the Discovery Channel? It’s been their biggest show in a while.
There is something strangely addictive about it.
