Freaks and Geeks.
Freaks and Geeks is an American comedy-drama television series aired on NBC during the 19992000 television season. Eighteen episodes were completed, but the series was canceled after only twelve had aired.
The show centered on a teenage girl, Lindsay Weir (Linda Cardellini), and her brother, Sam (John Francis Daley), both attending William McKinley High School during the 19801981 school year in the town of Chippewa, Michigan, a fictional suburb of Detroit.
Their friends, respectively, constituted the “freaks” Daniel Desario (James Franco), Ken Miller (Seth Rogen), Nick Andopolis (Jason Segel), Kim Kelly (Busy Philipps) and the “geeks” Neal Schweiber (Samm Levine) and Bill Haverchuck (Martin Starr) of the title.
I watched them all. Excellent stuff.
The soundtrack alone of the show is better than any other show I have watched. All old 70s and 80s songs.
In one of the episodes where they are planning to go a The Who concert all the songs in the episode are The Who songs.
So disappointed that there are only 18 eps…
In that time they created about 20-25 excellent characters and barely scratched the surface.
There is a very good cast.
Seth Rogen[Superbad], Jason Segel[How I met your mother], James Franco[Spidermen], Linda Cardellini[ER]
I do have a soft spot for Linda Cardellini…
BTW, Dollhouse was renewed. Back in September for 13 episodes.

Was just coming on here to post that, serious cast allright.
You could still watch it if you dont like Rogan, he hasnt got that many scenes/words.
The show is a satirical office comedy that focuses on Ted, the head of Research and Development at Veridian Dynamics. Veridian Dynamics is a large unscrupulous multinational corporation that values profits over morals. Ted is a single parent of a 7-year-old girl, Rose. At work, he oversees two research scientists Lem and Phil, and a head tester Linda, for whom he has romantic feelings. His boss is Veronica, an emotionless and conscience-free woman with whom he once had an affair.
Each episode has an advertisement for Veridian Dynamics which involves that show’s topic, such as diversity, food, and family. Here is the food one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_bPobs8T5w
Weird show but a good one. It has a touch of 30 Rock and Arrested Development.
There are only 7 episodes. But the rest will be shown later in the year and it has been renewed for a 2nd season.
Very good show. The 4th episode about diversity is terrific.
[quote=“myboyblue”]Weeds is back on in the States, still to watch first episode, the one I DL’d has a shit soundtrack to it so grabbing another torrent.
Weeds is class.
Started watching Lie to Me with Robert Carlyle. Must say 5 eps in, and I’m a fan, nice little premise and he plays it really well. Think there might also be more to this that the normal villain of the week thing. Time will tell.[/QUOTE]
I watched the first ep of Weeds.
I’m concerned for this series.
The preg-NANCY storyline is a tightrope. The resolution of it will define the series.
I love Doug. The hanging himself/whacking off bit at the end of the last series was genius.
Celia’s daughter being a super psycho was a bit weak. Wasn’t really buying it.
What was the story with the Home and Away style recasting of a main character? They even showed the old actor in the opening credits. Bizarre.
Some Weeds News:
Variety reports the upcoming Season 5 of Weeds will feature Jennifer Jason Leigh (SingleWhiteFemale) in a new recurring role as Nancy’s sister Jill Price-Gray. Leigh will appear in at least two episodes for Season 5.
Singer Alanis Morissette is also slated to appear in episodes as Nancy’s obstetrician.
I miss the original theme music… Little Boxes on the hillside…
I noticed above I said Lie to Me had Bob Carlyle in it. It is of course Tim Roth.
I havent gotten around to watching the first 2 eps of Weeds yet, so I havent clicked that spoiler, but I have faith in Weeds. Its been top notch for 4(?) seasons now and has moved on a lot from where it started.
Number of new shows started in US last night CLD, kicked off a few of them on the DL this morning (names escape me, occupation may have been one of them), any ideas of the quality of them?

I haven’t heard anythin. Give me some names and I’ll have a look into them…
Series 6 starts in America in a few weeks. I wasn’t mad about series 5.
Just started watching Battlestar Galactica. It’s pretty good, it’s fairly out there. I’ve heard rave reviews about it so my expectations are very high. It hasn’t met them yet but it is still quite entertaining, I’m willing to give it plenty more time. There is a ton of potential there.
MBB, Hung is one of the shows that just started on HBO in the US. I liked the trailer. It’s a comedy about a male prostitute.
I’ll acquire it and give it a watch.
It is premiere-ing in the US tonight.
