Twas me and me cousin one Arthur McBride

I look forward to your rendition of it at the Christmas Party in Clems.

It will be in Squire Maguires

Adare central Limerick 67,400 results.
Adare west Limerick 182,000 results.

And your done

Julio has cleaned house with Puke in this thread.

Puke is getting a worse beating than the one he dished out to Farmer.

unfortunately that is skewed due to the fact that Adare hurl in the West division of Limerick Gaa, which I am sure you would acknowledge would account for the majority of those results, please refine the data there and come back to me

Dont you get it Puke? It’s over you lose

what’s over?

you are using flawed logic to prove a point

Same logic you used to prove a point.

Your example was skewed by the fact that
1.Paul Brady is more famous than Planxty
2.Paul & Brady are both names which will throw up all sorts of spurious shit, which planxty will not

QED

fair enough but i don’t think i have ever heard anyone ever refer to Central Limerick…Comparing West and Central will throw up far bigger discrepancies than the name of a song and two bands/singer…If one was to type Arthur McBride on it’s own into google you would get far more articles/links to Brady’s version than plantxy while if one was to type just adare into it you won’t find too many links to adare west limerick

Populist Puke’s Pop Preferences.

so who recorded this version above and who recorded the version you quote in the thread title?

and how sure are you that these are the original lyrics to the song, its a traditional folk song thats been recorded so widely to say this is the definite lyric might be stretching it, unless you wrote it yourself

great tune alright, id be a fan of the planxty versiuon

Arthur McBrides cousin wrote it and sang it

I’d have thought that was fairly obvious from the opening few lines alright.

Soo fucking perb

You’re a funny bastard Julio.

Personally, I don’t really like the Planxty version, I’ve never been fully a fan of Andy Irvine’s voice. While it may be considered the definitive version, because of the fact that Planxty recorded it and most puristy kind of people would therefore go for it (don’t get me wrong, I love Planxty, was listening to the Vicar St CD on the way in this morning), the Brady version is much better. Somehow, I can’t equate Andy Irvine’s melifilous tones with the story of the song (where people get killed). The Brady version is edgier and louder.

Brady does this kind of song very well. Another example is the Lakes of Pontchertrain, I can’t listen to any version but his.

I don’t like Brady but can’t argue with his version. Sublime.

Brady is class. The inimitable Glasgow Celtic supporter Ro Keating fairly butchered one of his songs so much so that I can’t listen to either version now.

did you ever hear anyone sing the lyric you qouted is what im getting at?

outside of the pub i doubt you did, whcih makes your claim of victory over the puke a bit strange
