US Politics - A Society in Meltdown

Machines?

A great bunch of lads

@Fitzy post is slightly ironic given the origin of the phrase “fair dinkum”

A lovely little parting shot at Trump from the Director of the US Office of Government Ethics Walter Shaub as he quits.

I’d agree with most of that. Losing face in public is a massive no-no for them. In the 4 years I was there they moved from being reverential towards foreigners to having thinly disguised contempt for them. They’d fleece you if they could and play on the lost in translation a bit too.
Beijing GAA were storing a set of goalposts in the irish embassy and they went missing… Turns out the local staff had nicked them and cut them up and sold the metal. They claimed they thought it was rubbish.

Unlike the Irish??
:joy:

The orisih are the most unprofessional people you could possibly deal with it. They have a terrible reputation, always late (or not turning up) and turning up sick from drink

But we’re great craic though

A very shrewd German told me before that the difference between the Irish and the English is that when you first meet an irishman you might think he was a bit of an idiot but every single time you meet them after that you realise a bit more how much you have underestimated them.

With the English you think you have met a genius within the first 30 mins and realise very quickly that they are full of piss and vinegar and the vast majority have incredibly overinflated egos.

It explains why so many Irish people excel in England (present company excepted)

thats a nice fuzzy story of what the orish like to think about themselves, it ties in with their world view “the best lads/supporters/etc” in the world, the cold reality is a lot different

You’d never think he could be the bastard he turned out to be . He ended up under a patio.

In my experience the Germans are very good at flattery.

gil the muldoon, sitting there getting codded by a german, and loving it ,“ah yes, zee paddies, very astute, very good businessman”

Bryan Murray is a fucking snake of a man. One of life’s genuine cunts. I know I’ve mentioned it on here before but it’s no harm to remind people every now and then.

The greatest strength and weakness of Irish people is the capacity for compromise. With the Brits it’s the opposite.

Yeah. They flatterred their way across Europe a while back.
