I have been tipping away at a long term speculative tech stock for 15 months and it has gotten absolutely fucking hammered in the last week or so for no reason at all. Won’t even be impacted by the tarrifs…I put the car and one of the kids up on done deal earlier to plough in again

You make the mistake of believing Trump is a rational, good faith actor, acting in what he sincerely believes is America’s best interest. He isn’t. He’s making out like a bandit and laying the ground to make his family the permanent rulers of the USA after his dictatorship comes to an end by whatever means.
Trump is like Truss in one way but in another he very much isn’t, because Truss could never be a dictator and was always going to be forced out quickly.
Corporate America’s “pressure” will be meaningless. He will pressure them and they will fall in line. Trump is not planning to go anywhere, either now or in 2028/29.

This is all that matters. They’ll have to pony up many, many more millions to have any chance of getting him to reverse course.
They will pay those millions, or billions, but I don’t expect they’ll succeed in getting him to reverse course.
That’s it exactly I think. He has shown terrible judgment for his entire life. He hasn’t improved at nearly 80

I’ve been consistently correct about what Trump is and what his motivations are. There is literally nothing that could surprise me about him.
In one way he’s a fool. In another, which is the only thing he thinks about - gaining power, holding power and destroying everybody who gets in his way so that he makes megabucks and gets POWER, he very much isn’t, he’s one of the most skilled and shameless operators in history.
You know the way the whole wellness and mental health fields tell people to live their lives, that you only get one life, so live it to the fullest?
That’s grand if a person has some basic decency and understands and respects the concept of right and wrong. For a minority of people it’s carte blanche to commit evil.
Trump lives his life alright. He’s a Brad Goodman “do what you feel guy”. The problem is he’s utterly untethered from any concept of right and wrong, any inhibitions, any boundaries. As is Musk. These people believe they are the chosen ones. You only live once. We all die. There is no right and wrong. Because we all die. So what does it matter what you do while you’re alive. Getting what you want is the ONLY thing that matters. Live your life. Get high on the thrill of living. Destroy all who might even threaten to stand in your way. Extract everything you can from them. This is his rationale.
Trump is in a position where he knows he can’t live forever, and whatever remains of his life will be spend with zero boundaries, zero inhibitions. One life, many loves (but none of them are human), one king of the world. That’s what he thinks he is. Actually he thinks Putin is, but he’s a close second.
