US Politics II. Trump’s extreme regime

Instead of a golden age it’s going to be a golden shower.

Do the lads who control the bond market have a whatsapp group? Be some craic I’d say.

It’s called “Bond Villains”

There’s some amount of lads going around making up mad theories to try and build a strategy around what Trump is doing.

That man doesn’t know what he’s going to do next.

I think the only way to understand him, is to think of him as the greatest WUM that ever lived.

There’s no logic to it, he’s just constantly wumming.

That’s a mad theory and an ascription of strategy, WUMming as a strategy.

WUMming is obviously a major part of modern fascism - then the supposed WUM turns out to be real.

So there’s obviously a hell of a lot more going on. Project 2025 wouldn’t exist otherwise. Flagrant corruption is merely is the tip of the iceberg.

Number one in the “hell of a lot more going on” is that Trump is a blatantly obvious chaos agent for Russia.

I don’t take anybody remotely seriously who doesn’t recognise this by this stage, it’s like denial that gravity exists.

God spared him for a reason, buddy. It’s not for us mortals to second guess our Lord

When he needs to know, he’ll be told.

Yeah but Russia are not the global threat that was feared. They’re 3 years trying to get to Kiev and have only crossed a couple of fields.

Trumpian indeed.

Check this out.

It depends what you mean by “global threat that was feared”.

Most people didn’t fear that they would would invade Ukraine and indeed ridiculed people who said they would. They did.

Their global influence operations have been and remain on a scale that self appointed “very serious commentators” couldn’t even imagine in a dream, and have been a smash hit success.

If you think of Russia’s global threat as “they’re going to mobilise an army and physically roll into Berlin tomorrow”, then yes perhaps. But only a simpleton imagines their threat as that.

On the other hand, Putin has been immensely successful in his destroying his own country in all the ways that really matter.

Sure propaganda smear campaigns like that are fifty a penny. Literally the entirety of right wing politics now is a propaganda smear campaign. It has zero intellectual basis. All of it. Any of it. Nada.

I keep going back to this passage in the book “Flat Earth News” by Nick Davies (2008). It’s from the pre-INTERNET era and lot of this stuff has moved online but the principle is exactly the same.

It refers to how Israeli propaganda works but it now applies to all right wing political campaigns and aims. And these propaganda campaigns all have massive MONEY behind them.

Part of that money is the state of Russia. The aim of right wing politics worldwide now is create a totally choreographed world where truth doesn’t matter and where only lies do.

…the most potent electric fence in the world is the one erected on behalf of the Israeli government…journalists who write stories which offend the politics of the Israeli lobby are subjected to a campaign of formal complaints and pressure on their editors; most of all, they are inundated with letters and emails which can be extravagant in their hostility…there is now a network of pro-Israel pressure groups who specialise in orchestrating complaints against the media. HonestReporting has offices in London, New York and Toronto and claims to have 140,000 members on whom it can call to drench media organisations in letters and emails (he goes on to describe many more pro-Israel pressure groups)…the result is that some facts become too dangerous: to report Palestinian casualties; to depict the Palestinians as victims of Israeli occupation; to refer to the historic ousting of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians from their homes; to refer to the killing of Palestinian civilians by Zionist groups in the 1940s…words become dangerous: to speak of ‘occupied territories’; to describe Palestinian bombers as anything other than ‘terrorists’; to reject the Israeli government euphemism of ‘targeted killings’. Crucially, there is no lobby of similar force on the Palestinian side.

Oh I’m sure this is definitely not happening just like Russia’s invasion of Ukraine definitely wasn’t happening.

Like two kids going back and forth. Just waiting for one of them to call infinity tariffs

I wonder if china doesn’t have the bigger stick. I certainly think the leadership have more long game opportunity. I suspect that China could inflict more (non artillery based) damage on America than vice versa, but who knows :person_shrugging::slightly_frowning_face:

Highly believable but any evidence?

China has them by the bollox, they just don’t know it. Yet.

You’ve a trade war between one country up to it’s bollox in debt vs the country that owns it’s debt.

China will suffer, but sure they’ll do what their told.

The yanks will have a meltdown once the shortages and inflation kick in.

Trump will fold, he’ll probably declare war on Iran the same day as a distraction
