The Director General and News CEO have correctly fallen on their sword. Stitched two statements together - which were made 50 minutes apart - to give a false, misleading impression of what President Trump said.

There has to be accountability for this, especially since the BBC consider themselves the bastion of honesty and integrity.

Would love to see RTE held to account next, although they are too busy licking the arse of Holly Cairns, Paul Murphy and the Irish Times staff.

No man should be hung for that.

What was misleading about it?

I probably would.

Its a cruel world we live in.

Good summary I saw elsewhere:

So according to Michael Prescott’s leaked memo his issues with the BBC are:

1) They are too mean to Trump
2) They are too sensitive to victims of racism
3) Not pushing anti migrant news enough
4) Not anti-trans enough
5) Too mean to Israel
6) Not mean enough to Gaza

Safe to say Michael Prescott sounds like a cunt.

Imagine having the same viewpoints as him

As expected Democrats cave on the government shutdown, raising the question what was the point of forcing a government shutdown?

I’m just catching up on the bbc fiasco… Trump the prophet has been telling us about fake news for years. Turns out the wokies are the Nazis

BBC may have to pay Trump millions - might trigger a license strike

He’ll make the BBC great again

RTE just had some prick called Robert Putnam on , he was batting hard for the BBC and bitching about Trump, he was also whining about poor Dee Forbes - I think Colm omongian was struggling to contain his rant - who the fuck let this biased prick on the national airwaves?

Nonsense broadcasting from the license fee wasters

This coming from a Trump supporter.:smiley:

Perhaps @Kyle could us what it’s like to have those views?

Personal experience counts for a lot.

I’m all for people having personal experience of things. It provides huge context around decision making. That last thing you want is somebody with fuck all real world experience. Recipe for disaster.

Good. I’d suggest Ireland’s policy on asylum seekers should only be made by people who have personal experience of seeking asylum in Ireland.

Sure its great logic. Let only rapists judge rapists… for they have ran a mile from a rape in their shoes. As for your beloved paedo nazis…

Well it’s your logic…

President Trump has railed against this type of stuff for years. The media are biased - the Beeb, CNN, RTE are all cheeks of the same arse. All completely pro establishment. People are actually waking up to this now.

Look at how RTE fucked Sean Gallagher over in the presidential debate that time, to get their preferred left wing candidate, the trough eater Higgins, over the line.

As respected commentator John McGurk said recently, there is an unofficial but very real policy within the corridors of Montrose of not platforming anyone to the right of Michael McDowell. He is the ā€˜acceptable’ voice of conservatives in Ireland (despite not being conservative at all). Elected councillors of a centre right persuasion never given airtime while the likes of Hazel Chu are regulars on there.
