US Presidential Election 2016: Sidney's Victory Lap

Must have been 97/98 then, but United were way ahead by Jan, Paddy Power paid out but Arsenal ended up winning the league.

Obamacare is frightening.

The less a household earns, the more the taxpayer is subsidising their premium. In Florida, for example:

-A family of 4 earning less than 35k can get the second cheapest Obamacare policy for $65 per month.

-That same family earning less than 75k will pay $540 per month, the other half is subsidised by the taxpayer. The family is also responsible for 13k in expenses before the plan will pay anything.

-That same family earning more than 100k receives no subsidy and must pay a premium of $1000 per month and also have a deductible of 13k

What’s wrong with that?

Even Bill can answer that one

That’s not what’s wrong with Obamacare. There’s nothing wrong with subsidized health care for lower earners or free health care for the poor and needy for that matter. To think otherwise shows a remarkable lack of empathy for your fellow man.

The problem with Obamacare is that the US health care system is broken and in an effort to fix it the government made it much worse.

You are singing from the same hymn sheet as the Shinners.

If Trump is elected president he will try to fix the broken healthcare system.

GOP now hinting at permanently shrinking the Supreme Court. If they persist in this obstructionist strategy, the republic is doomed, if it is not doomed anyway. No republic can be sustained if one faction refuses to accept the right of the other to govern.

Donald will have to hire a few Mexicans to make sure the wall is built on time

When this happens Sarah Palin really will be able to see Russia from her house, so that’ll be one less Republican lie, at least.

I think what we’re seeing is the beginning of an unravelling that will not play out in full until long after we’re dead. The Obama presidency has been a sign of things to come. Extreme obstructionism from a GOP that has become completely unhinged. A huge move towards an even greater concentration of executive power by Obama, justified by democrats as a response to the GOP, but really the outright abandonment of core republican principles.

The government shutdown, the latest SCOTUS row, all undeniable evidence of a deeply dysfunctional republic where wealth is increasingly concentrated in few hands, thanks to a 35 year long economic campaign that has devastated the middle class. Some day a figure will come along who will promise to rid the country of the bickering idiots in Washington and restore a true republican government that is for the people, if they give him the power required to do so. And it won’t be a narcissistic know nothing like Trump. It will be someone that is worth following.

Do you seriously think Idaho, Utah and Arizona would want anything to do with the Cali, Portland and Seattle pinko hippies?

I certainly think we are witnessing the end of Western liberal democracy and globalization with it.

Think so. And I don’t think we are going to like what is there instead of it.

Signing in from Chicago where Trump visited yesterday looking after his commercial interests. Population of 2.7m in Chicago. 17 people were shot dead over the weekend here. Not an unusual statistic and was slotted into news alongside stories of kids trick or treating.
