The lesson you took from World War II was that no Hitler reference should ever be made about anybody, ever, even if they are obviously fascist and use similar propaganda techniques to the Nazis.

The lesson Israel took from World War II was that they needed to behave like the Nazis. Israel believes only power and might and the raw, unrestrained exercise of power and might matters. So does Trump.
Hereâs the truth: thereâs no knowing where Trumpism ends. It could peter out with a whimper if he loses the election. But I think itâs highly unlikely to just peter out.
Or he may win the election, and then, you really wouldnât want to know to know where that could easily end.
Hitler didnât start off with death camps and gas chambers. Anybody who dismisses the threat of the possibility of Trumpism ending up in some scenario like that, or even worse, is, frankly, a fucking simpleton.
Hitler was roundly dismissed for many years. People dismissed him as a clown. Those people were enablers of Hitler. People dismiss Trump as a clown. Big fucking mistake.

Fascism works in terms of attracting support, thatâs why fascists behave the way they do. People like you take leave of their senses. They become swept up into a fever dream of fantasy. Others just become cynical and voluntarily go along with it because they think fascism wonât affect them. Everything becomes about excuses as to why not to vote for the non-fascist rather than making sure the fascist rapist bosom buddy of paedophiles doesnât get in. Fascism doesnât require a majority, it only requires a cult and to divide non-fascists. Nobody has ever found a good way to defeat fascism when it starts its march. There is no good way. Itâs the political and societal equivalent of flesh eating cancer.
If you cloned the most electorally attractive aspects of Kennedy, Clinton and Obama and fused them into one super-candidate, theyâd have a very hard time beating Trump.
