Iâve followed the Keystone state closely. It all hinges there. Might as well rename it the Pennsylvanian election. Thats why both candidates have set up camp there last few weeks.
Democrats have a Shapiro and Fetterman problem there. Shapiro has ambitions of running in 2028 so Harris winning isnt on his wish list. Fetterman just does his own thing and is probably secretly voting for Trump. The early numbers arent encouraging for Democrats. They had a 1.15m âfirewallâ before an election day ballot was cast in 2020. As of today Democrat ballots exceed republicans by 400k. Thats not to say all Republicans will vote for Trump either. Dynamic was different with Covid too insofar as Democrats were more than likely to mail in their ballot as there was more trepidation amongst those folks when it came to Covid. They are far more likely to do so in person this time around. But 2022 interms when covid wasnt such a factor showed the mail in ballots held up for Democrats again when Shapiro garnered > 1m mail in ballots to his opponents 150K. Democrats were hoping for a âfirewallâ of 750,000 before election day. They had to temper hopes and revise that down to 500K and subsequently 450k as reality began to set in. It sits at 400K today with most of the returns in. Now Democrats might have something else up their sleeve here but its impossible to call a state where the margins are so tiny as to come down to a few thousand votes. Democrats have always been a well oiled machine here. Knocking on every door but Musks interference combined with an aggressive republican ground game especially with new registrations may swing it back towards the GOP.
