Itās all of the above but more so the authority of government is undermined when you let the market dictate governance. America is an extreme version of thisā¦ When you look closer to home - whatever about the rights and wrongs of saving German bondholders in 2010 - the austerity that followed - Nama - vulture funds invited in - letting the market right the housing crisisā¦ This weakens the legitimacy of governance. What weāve seen more recently is government(s) trying to play clever games of abolishment of responsibility on big government issues. And while governments have always spun and thrun dirt in the wake of failing, not acting is far worse as it reduces the legitimacy of governance in the ordinary person.
Leo attacking dolers, privatising water and FG trying to introduce market competition in to areas that should have been done by the state - you then create a sub section of society who wonāt obey the stateā¦
Add in the other factors you mention and itās a powder keg.
People want control but they also want this through a degree of control by a strong government. This is how security is generated.
I see self proclaimed ābrothaā Obama is incredulous that Blacks are not showing enthusiasm or intentions to vote for Harris as they have been to vote for Democrats in the past. In the process, appealing to black people to vote according to the colour of their skin - yes the democratic party truly are the party to unite.
Whatās the case for a black person to vote for a vicious anti-black racist like Trump?
Why would a Catholic in the North vote for the DUP?
Would you consider it āsectarianā for a prominent Catholic politician, say Gerry Adams, to say to other Catholics that they should vote for a Sinn Fein or SDLP candidate in a tight two way race against a DUP or TUV candidate?
Do you now see it as āracistā for a representative of a traditionally oppressed community to state the mere fact that their community has been historically oppressed? And still suffers as a group because of their skin colour.
And that if they vote for a candidate who hates them, they are voting against their own rights?
It would be funny except Israel will have free(er) rein to do what they want. Thereāll be no strongly worded emails to temper their bloodlust.
Actually, come to think of it, I donāt think that Harris suggesting nicely that they hold back, whilst selling them cluster bombs, is really reining them in anyway.
Thereās a storm coming. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, youāre all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.
