Speculation.
Watched some Fox News there last night. The right’s latest attack tactic is blaming Obama for this war by releasing Iranian funds held in a trust since the 1970s.
“Obama gave them money”. You can’t give away what isn’t yours.

I have a snakey suspicion that Iran have showed their hand, and they’re not leaving the best in reserve. I’d say the sanctions had them in a sorry state. Could well be wrong.
If they had any smarts, they’d have had sleeper cells in enemy territory for years, with an evolving, co-ordinated plan to inflict maximum damage. Look what Osama did, if Iran can’t top that with the resources they had at their disposal, they’re an embarrassment.

The Iranian clerics, as well as the revolutionary guards have survived a lot of wars since the fall of the Shah. I’d wonder if it was obvious to them that they wouldn’t stay in power, would they have something to unleash, the big dog, and would they have the minerals to unleash it if they did? If you think about Saddam, he went out with a whimper, had no big dog for the fight.
Ya I’m beginning to think the Iranians aren’t holding much in reserve. The only thing they might have some of is the hypersonic missiles which are apparently extremely difficult to intercept, but I haven’t seen much mention of them so far.
That’s why the scatter gun approach seems odd to me.
They should have reigned everything on the Israelis in tel Aviv.
That was their pre-arranged strategy. They expected the top leadership structure to be taken out so told regional commanders that if that happened they could work away themselves, so there’s probably not much coordination happening.
Can we assume that, for arguments sake, roughly half the population in Iran welcome these attacks? On a side note, d’aul Iranians are a good looking bunch of people.

Did they not obliterate the largest US base in the region Al Udeid and hit 2 US embassies in Doha and Riyadh. Not a bad nights work.
Yerra, there are good looking people everywhere, though not so much in the “out and about” sections of some of the regional Irish newspapers!
