Correct, what Obama did was much worse, from the point of view of democracy (to argue what either Trump is doing or Obama did is fascism displays woeful ignorance).

There are five major parent news outlets in the US, which control over 90% of the media (there were 50 in 1983). Fox is the only conservative outlet, all of the others owned by the other 4 parents are pro Democrat and liberal, mainly NBC, ABC, CNN, and CBS. Obama constantly called out and ridiculed the one outlet that opposed him, whereas in reality Trump is doing the same with only CNN, which is now far more biased in their reporting than Fox ever was.

Well, given that you’re a raving right-wing looney, you would think that, wouldn’t you.

But nobody reasonable does.

It’s weird to be on the same wavelength as @anon7035031 but you seem to be admitting shutting down media is the act of a fascist. And Maduro has done this.

“Admitting”?

Strange choice of word on your part, that.

Fascism is determined by a compendium of characteristics, not a single one.

Shutting down or going to war on the media is clearly an authoritarian act but it doesn’t make one a fascist alone. And there are different brands of authoritarianism.

Sidney is a fan of the Red Flag brand, that much we know

“Admitting”

The masks slip

Most intelligent people come around to reason in time when confronted with the facts.

Fascism isn’t so much an obvious left or right wing thing, much as modern day liberals would like to portray it as right. There are plenty examples of left wing and right wing fascist regimes. The Nazis were after all socialists, the only one’s they were to the right of in the 20th century were communists, in terms of state intervention and social programs they were well to the left of the US at the time. Trotsky himself regarded fascism as middle class socialism.

Yep @Sidney’s mask slipped big time.

Great effort to deflect here @Sidney. So while we have you here could you give us a list of things a dictator/authoritarian/fascist might do and we’ll cross them off as Maduro does them.
So I’ll start,
1- Killing a load of civilians is one.
2- Shutting down media you don’t like is two.
3- Changing the constitution to get greater control of the country is three.
4- what else?

4- Promoting 800 officers to General or Admiral in order to control the military.

  1. Locking up your opponents.

To @sidney none of that rises to the level of calling CNN fake news.

Labour introduced section 31 bro. A bit ironic you getting all high and mighty about media inteference now when you were against repealing that

Have you the hiccups?

“Lock her up!”

Ooooft

You’re back thank god. You seemed to have missed the above list somehow. Any chance you’d list out the typical actions of a fascist dictator there for us? We can tick them off for Trump and Maduro. It’ll be like battleships.

Is she locked up?

Is consistently chanting for the locking up of your opponent in a democratic election a characteristic of fascism?

Yes or no?

Remember, you were, and still are, all aboard the “Trump Train”.

The following link contains 14 defining characteristics of fascism.

By my reckoning Trump has achieved 12 and is making very good progress towards achieving the other two.

Throw in his admiration and courting of right-wing authoritarians such as Putin, Le Pen and Duterte and you have 15.

Throw in his apologism for actual Nazis and you have 16.
