The electoral college was introduced to help states with large slave populations have a bigger say in choosing the president than they would otherwise have had. I’ll let you work out whether that was a good idea or not.
I see Donald is thinking of appointing Ivanka as head of the World bank. The position is unofficially within the US presidents power to appoint more or less.
It’s like something you’d expect from Venezuela
I think Sinn Féin’s position on this just sums up leftists in general. You need only throw the word “socialist” around a bit and, no matter how much of a butcher you become, they’ll support ya. Look at MDH praising that animal Fidel Castro.
Sinn Fein and anyone else that has anything to do with this government that’s destroyed the country of Venezuela and seen 3 million people flee in 4 years should be ashamed of themselves.
I’d be curious as to the comparison of living standards in Cuba to neighboring vassal states of the USA in the region. I don’t get a sense that nearby Haiti for example did particularly well out of capitalism or the Dominican Republic.
It really isn’t that badly off. In comparison to their neighbours in Haiti it’s a picnic. People who blame capitalism for Haiti do not have a clue.
Honduras and Guatamala are incredibly corrupt with large scale criminality. Neither are in the same league as the stuff going on in Venezuela at the moment though.
